EQUIPMENT Signature Blouse ($208)

The Rating: Proceed with Caution

Versatility is one of the most important things I look for in nearly every clothing item I purchase.  With rare exception, before pulling out my credit card for any item over $100, I always take a moment to focus on two very important questions:

1. Does it go with at least three other things I already own?

2. Do I know how to style it well in combination with at least two scenarios - day/evening, work/fun, dress/casual?

I am always thrilled when I encounter things that seem to cover almost all the bases, and Equipment's slim signature blouse wins the prize ($208).

The tops, made of soft, breathable silk, can be styled in so many ways: tucked into denim shorts with flat metallic sandals and jangly bangles for the farmer's market, unbuttoned low over coated jeans with killer stilettos and shiny clutch for a fun night out, open over a little dress or tucked into a pencil skirt with heels for work, or untucked over jeans with flats for a quick trip to the store, and on, and on.  The shirts come in a wide array of colors and patterns, wear very well, and always make me feel nicely presentable even when I just threw one on before dashing out the door.

My only caution would be that tops made with silk solids tend to show any and every little stain, so be extra careful with the lighter and more neutral colors.
