Maybelline New York Dream Fresh BB Cream  ($8.99)

Rating: Trust It!

I’m most definitely a minimalist when it comes to morning beauty regimens. Experimenting with make-up trends – not my thing. Foundation is too flakey. Lipstick is too heavy. Eye shadow is too flashy. And mascara is too clumpy. (In my opinion, anyway!)

A dash of concealer to cover those “problem areas” is usually all it takes. Ten minutes in front of the mirror, then I’m out the door.

At least, that’s what I aim for in theory. But lately, I’ve had to do some reevaluating. The au naturel look was acceptable throughout college when it was a feat just to arrive on time for an 8 AM class. Rules in the professional world, however, are slightly different.

Sweat pants are no longer considered a suitable stand-in for khaki trousers, and a make-up free face is now code for “unpolished.”

Ahh, the joys of transitioning from undergrad to actual adulthood!

So, I’ve adapted. If this stage of life requires me to look “polished’ by society’s standards, then fine…you win, society. But I won’t be clogging my pores with 5 pounds of goop. I’m doing this make-up thing MY way.

And my way still means minimal.

Enter: BB Cream. This latest addition to the cosmetic aisle has been heavily promoted through skin-care commercials, beauty advertisements and even celebrity endorsements. But that’s not why I decided to give the product a try.

What intrigued me about BB Cream is that it’s NOT marketed as foundation. (Foundation and I don’t get along, remember?)

BB Cream stands for “blemish balm,” and cosmetic companies tout it as a one-stop-wonder. Before purchasing my own, I’d read that BB Cream allegedly works as a moisturizer, concealer, primer and sunscreen. Quite a claim for one little tube!

But – despite my initial skepticism – after that first trial application, I converted. Now I’ll openly admit to hopping on the BB Bandwagon. This beauty product is an au naturel girl’s answer to disliking make-up but still needing to look the “feminine” part.

My personal brand recommendation is Dream Fresh BB Cream from Maybelline New York. Affordable, long-lasting and even gentle on sensitive skin, your face will thank you profusely for the investment!

Not to mention…this product only takes 5-10 minutes to apply, and it won’t noticeably weigh you down like some other full-coverage brands on the market. So, with BB Cream, I don’t look like a plastic Barbie Doll.

I just look like the freshest-faced version of me.
